ZZ Topol had the pleasure of seeing Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow “Long live Rock N Roll tour at London’s Finsbury Park, Rainbow Theatre on 14/11/77.

Heaven & Hell

It was at that gig he fell in love with the fantasy metal songs of Rainbow sang by the legendary metal singer Ronnie James Dio. He has now started a new charity called “Rainbow Raising” named the Rainbow album. The charity will be getting the help of metal musicians to raise funds.

ZZ Topol promoted female fronted gothic themed nights called “Sinister Sunday” in 2009 in a East End rock club.

ZZ Topol has been a rocker for 50 years! attending his first gig at aged 13, prog rock bands ELP & Pink Floyd.

He was a 70s punk and at many early gigs by bands including The Clash, The Damned ( saw Lemmy from Motorhead at many gigs) Sham 69, 999, Vibrators, UK Subs, Angelic Upstarts, Cockney Rejects.

Rock to Metal Years

In 1989 he was bored by most of the non original new punk bands and started listening to The New York Dolls & Hanoi Rocks. Glam had been the music of his childhood. His first records bought were by Sweet, Slade and T Rex. Marc Bolan of T-Rex’s first cousin was the best friend of his late father and is now part of his family tree.

In 1989 aged 28 he attended the Motley Crue, , White Lion & Skid Row gig at Wembley Arena in London. That was the start of his Metal Years!

During the 90s he went to many live gigs including Thunder, Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Gun N Roses, Metallica, .

His introduction to metal was Black Sabbath 1976 Sabotage tour at Hammersmith Odeon in London.

He attended many 90s Donington Monsters of Rock festivals ( above photo Donington 1995: Metallica headlined.
